I will not be organizing any group rides in the near future until this pandemic subsides. I encourage other members to do the same.

As a side note, BBC has over 135 members. While not all are active riders, most still use their business emails for BBC ride notices. When you respond to a post, try not to send to all 135 and just respond to the sender.

Obviously this does not apply to people in the same household riding together. But bottom line, just don't chance it. Think of others, not just yourselves.

Sad to see these big club money maker events get cancelled. They help fund cycling advocacy and keep the club running.

Re: Spritzler Shangri La Cave

Jeff McRae

Still haven’t unpacked the bike trainer or cleared out space in our basement to make my “pain cave” after moving to Colorado.  So with the warmer weather, my pain cave is now outdoors.  A ride through my neighborhood is 6-11% grade with continual climbing. Then the finish back up my driveway when I’m done reminds me of the HHH finish...1/4 mile, 3 switchbacks, and 8-18% grade the whole way.  Haven’t ridden much this winter with a MCL tear from skiing, so was feeling Way out of shape yesterday when riding. Shut up legs!
Miss everyone back at BBC!!

Tom,

You are missing a power cord and a generator.

It would be more believable if you had the Tacx Neo trainer. It can run without plugging in as it can create its own power.

Re: GOAT ride May1st,2020 CANCELLED

Sandy Mathias

Hopefully by July the state of Colorado is back in business.  TBP has recent experience in evaluating a cancellation, from the experience with widespread fires in 2018.

The critical factor will be the availability of public services such as law enforcement, EMS, fire, etc.  Like Illinois and a handful of other states, Colorado has just enacted 'stay home' orders across the state as of this morning.   Even state and national parks are closing, in addition to outdoor public facilities such as tennis, basketball, and golf.  Pretty much the only outdoor recreation permitted is walking, running, and cycling.  Fingers crossed that people comply, and we got sufficiently in front of it to manage the magnitude of the peak.

Hope to see you all in July.

Also, I'm enjoying the pain cave banter.  What a fun group of cycling enthusiasts!

I have fond memories of gold Airdynes amd my dad.  Over the years he had several.  for awhile I rode one indoors in the 80s and 90s and even-though I had rollers, I was bequeathed one and had it early on in Barrington. It sure gave a great added arm workout.
