BBC - Village Cycling

Tim Jozwiak (Jaws)

We are planning a private get together next week (April 12/13) to get our relationship back on track with Village Cycle. I would like to get responses to see which day works best for the majority. It will be either Tuesday or Wednesday at 7:00. The reason we are trying to put this together in a week is to help individuals who plan on ordering from Verge Sports by the 15th. We will not have kits to try on but we will have some help from Village Cycling to assist in size conversions.

There will be a couple of presentations, some freebies and even adult beverages.

Please respond only to me!

BBC Kit Order Spring - 2016

Bill Gotfryd

Hello, All:   Sorry for the delay in getting this up and running. It was mostly on my head to get everything together with Verge  as a new supplier.

This will be our first order with Verge Sport, so I'm afraid it will be a bit of an experiment.  Those who saw sample kit items at Dave and Nancy Bergen's last Fall were impressed with the feel of the fabric and its stretch. As you will note when you go to consider an order, there are a number of choices of price, fabric, and fit to sort through.  Given this flexibility as well as a shorter turn-around time, etc. we think it's worth a shot to try a new source.

PLEASE NOTE: Verge is a European maker, so the fits and sizes are NOT AT ALL comparable to what you are used to. For example, if you were a Medium-Large "race" fit SS Jersey before, you might be a 2-3XL "aero" now.  Check the fits available for each jersey option and consult the size chart for that fit.  Believe it. These are custom kits and cannot be edited or cancelled after placing the order, or returned after delivery.

Also, note that the sleeves on some jerseys and the legs on the bib shorts end in a broad elastic-type "band" rather than the sewn hem we are used to. Check the spec's for each item/option.

The website does not yet show our kit design for the items, but it is the same design for comparable items. (I.e., the LS Jersey is the heavier red/black BBC design.) Items like bib knickers will be available for a Fall delivery later in the summer.

Yes, we WILL offer the sleeveless women's option again and see if enough folks order it this time. For those who forgot what it looks like, I've attached a spec sheet from which you can figure out the design.

As always, you will be making an individual order that will be shipped to you directly.  The order deadline closes April 15 for a May 15 shipment.

Here is the process:

Step 1:
  Go to www.shop.vergesport.com.

Step 2:  Click on register in the upper left corner, enter e-mail address, then click next.

Step 3:  You will be sent a registration code to that e-mail address.

Step 4:  Enter this code in the requested box and hit next, this will take you to a registration page. Fill out the required information and click register.

Step 5:  Click on the Barrington Bicycle Club banner, or select it from the drop down menu. All items in the store will use the Stockton design, the preview image is for reference only, click on the Verge items to place items in your cart.

Step 6:  Jerseys are available in aero, fitted and relaxed cuts, check the sizing chart to help determine which fit will be best for you.

Step 7:  Click on the item you wish to order, enter quantity you will be ordering and click the basket image to add them to your cart.

Step 8:  Once you finished adding all the items you intend to order, click on the cart in the upper right corner to review your order and proceed to payment.

*Please note again that once you submit the order it can no longer be edited, so please be sure to confirm that your sizing and quantities are correct before submitting.

That is all!  Bill

I have not had to many takers for the St. Patrick's day ride but we are doing it anyway!  It will be cold so I am moving the starting time to 10:00 (36 degrees). That should give us plenty of time on the route - 16, 20 & 36 mile options with SAG support.
Please arrive a couple early to register ($10).
Reply to me if you will be ridding.

Hi, All:

Mike Page of Village CycleSport and I talked today, and he really wants to reestablish and build on the club-sponsor relationship.

One of the ways is with sponsoring programs for the BBC at the shop. In the past we've done programs on simple maintenance, but maybe that is too narrow and repetitive for most members. Maybe something like "Ask your mechanic" if that isn't too broad. Maybe something in combination.

I also suggested that we could probably support a group buy or two on some items that can get us better than 15% discounts. Rich M last year suggested helmets again (They do break down from UV exposure) and I thought that tires is always a good item if we could support a narrow set of options or even better one model that would get us a wholesaler discount.

I'm calling for thoughts on either or both concepts.  Please respond to me alone if possible.

Also, if somebody wants to take on the fun of being the regular contact with VCS to work on these sorts of things, please don't be shy. I'm happy to share.

Bill
