Snitz Jr & the future Mrs Snitz: Pro Gravel results...BAM

Tom Snitzer

Snitz and his future bride (Lauren De Crescenzo) have been racing for Tom Danielson's Cinch Elite Pro UCI team this year.  Tom's also been coaching them.

Today's 100 mile (8,000 ft vert) pro gravel race was tough but Snitz managed to end up on the podium (2nd  place) with Lauren winning her third Woman's pro race in a row.  Both smashed the course record by over 20 minutes.  Ouch!

* Snitz podiumed at his first race earlier in the year and placed top 10 in last weeks road event.

Thanks Brad , as a novice this will be helpful / great. Here’s a question to the group... I suspect this crew likes to trade up. Does anyone have an awesome gently used road bike for sale? I am 6’3” , 210 .... please text or email if anything comes to mind.
Thanks!

I will be leading a casual / new members’ ride each Monday evening beginning next Monday, 5/10.

The goal is to bring new members into the group and create an opportunity for folks who’s fitness is still coming on-line (like me!) a chance to get some miles in, meet some new like-minded cycling friends, and learn the ins and outs of riding in a group - all at a pace and distance that will be comfortable for newer riders and those just looking to enjoy a more casual evening on the bike.

If you’ve been wanting to ride more but are uncertain if you’re ready for some of the group’s longer and faster rides then this is the ride for you.

Our rides will begin and end at the parking lot behind St Matthew’s Church at the corner of Dundee Ave and Tower Rd. Rides will start promptly at 5:30 and usually be back at ~7:00.

We will ride 15 - 20 miles on non-busy roads - shorter early in the season and progressively longer as we go. Rides will follow a strict “no-drop” policy, meaning if you need a little extra time getting up that last hill we’ll be waiting for you at the top taking a short breather. We all start and finish together.

So c’mon, let’s get out and get healthy after a crazy 2020, meet some fellow cyclists, and earn that new Covid bike you bought last year!

Reach out with any questions you have and see you on Monday!

FW: Walk Bike Barrington Event - June 3 - More info

Tom Cramer

Sorry for the multiple emails, but I have some more information. This should be the last mass message on the subject to the group.

Event is Thursday June 3rd from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. Volunteers to arrive at 5:00pm.

There are 4 of us interested so far, but they need 6-9 of us. Hopefully knowing that this is not during business hours will spark some more to mark their calendars and reach out to me. As Bob Lee points out below, this event does support our clubs mission statement.

We should wear our BBC Jersey Bob says, but maybe a new shirt with our new Logo Ruben?

I have a source for a in expensive Polo if we don’t want to be walking around downtown with our Kits on.

I will be sent more info along with a volunteer registration form which I will pass along to the members rely to me (individually) that they are interested.

Link to Barrington’s events page..

Ride on,

Tom,

This is great!  Thanks for rallying the troops. See you on June 3rd. It would be good is everyone wore their jerseys  to help publicize BBC.  Let Andrew know if you would like a table to promote new members.

It was good to read the BBC’s Mission last night.

Our Mission
The Barrington Bicycle Club (BBC) promotes the social, environmental and health benefits of safe cycling in the Barrington area that are enhanced when it is a shared experience. Recognizing that we ride in a special region, the members strive to practice good stewardship of the roads that we share with other forms of transportation. The BBC encourages education in safe cycling and motoring practices on shared roads, appropriate etiquette at all times, and continuing public advocacy for the development and improvement of bicycle routes and facilities.

Your Mission has much in common with the Barrington Bike & Pedestrian Committee.

Andrew,

Can you keep Tom updated with the plans and needs.

Bob

Hi Tom,
I am wondering if you could encourage a number of your BBC members to help promote Bike safety on June 3 in Downtown Barrington. We are needing volunteers that evening probably from 6 to 9.  Exact time are to be determined.  It would be good if BBC members could help monitor and teach kids to ride their bikes safely while doing an obstacle course.  Please let me know your thoughts.

Grab your climbing shoes and your taco socks (yes, I have both), and let's go hit some hills.  Route link below, but basically the 2019 normal hilly route with a different starting location. Easy pace between climbs, regrouping at the top of the hills.

Post-ride we will partake in the traditional Cinco de Mayo feast of tacos and beer. You earn one taco for every lap up Violet. I've earned 4 in the past. El Sombrero's has an outdoor patio and if it's too cold can eat inside. Bring a mask.

If you don't want to ride but love tacos, come join us post-ride. All are welcome

Start/End Location: El Sombrero's parking lot (314 Lincoln Ave, Fox River Grove) www.elsombreofrg.com

Time: Butts in Saddles at 545pm

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35869200

SPECIAL EDITION: Cinco de Mayo Hilly Ride - Wed. May 5th @ 545pm

Sheri Rosenbaum

REVIEW attached COVID-19 Statement.

All riders are required to review the COVID-19 Statement before each ride. You will be asked to acknowledge a “NO” response to all questions to ride with the group.

What should you bring?: Mask, money, front/rear lights, helmet, smile, climbing shoes, taco socks

The ride will be canceled if raining.

Sheri

Saturday Ride - 9:00 - Barrington High School

We’ll do the 34 mile Elgin/Dundee route so we can get the 20 MPH SSW winds at our back on the return.

Possible Donut stop???

Longer/shorter options available

Early season slower pace

Road Construction on Deerpath Between Long Grove and Cuba Roads

Ruben Medina

Waas sap pen ing BBC Folks,

Suggestion that you avoid riding on Deerpath between Long Grove Rd. and Cuba Rd. during road construction.

It's been torn up since at least Monday for what looks like resurfacing.

The part of the road impacted by the work is the area of the two sequential bends.

Stay safe everybody.

Ruben
